Let’s start an adventure

Life is grand, and I didn't write much this weekend.

Camp NaNoWriMo is in full swing. Considering we’re half way through the month, you’d figure I’d be halfway to my word count goal of 50,000 right?

That means I should have spewed 25,000 words of hot garbage onto a rough draft right? alas… that hasn’t happened.

This weekend my wife and I went to DC with our daughter, wandered around the monuments and museums and according to my watch I was in ‘God Mode’ by the end of the day because I’d managed a 21k step count. Hell yeah.

The next day my ankles protested greatly at my accomplishment which surprised me and reminded me that I really need to adjust how I walk and that I’m getting older. Yet, despite it being an unventful day, I didn’t get much written yesterday either. We did get our daughters hair colored for the first time, I’m ashamed to admit that when I see her around the house now I think it’s a different kid because it’s such a drastic change, she loves it.

Then, later that night; the twitter monster sucked me in after my wife and daughter went to bed and I summarily went to bed feeling as if I hadn’t accomplished much.

Tonight finds me contributing word counts to my blog here and Part II of a short story for The Number 26 but still my Camp NaNoWriMo WIP sits in an open word document on my laptop, just staring at me grumpily, as if to say “Put me to bed if you’re not gonna work on me”.

I might.

On another note, I recieved a DM on twitter from the founder of Channillo.com asking if I was interested in submitting a series for the site, so after much deliberation I think I’m going to. We’ll see how that works out, hopefully it’s accepted. Just one more step in my journey to seeing my WIP in glorious hardcover with a glossy dust cover on the shelf of Barns & Noble or a bookstore near you.

Goals Right?
